"I don't want to live here, mom," I say to my mother as I drop my suit cases in our brand new home located in the U.K. "Mikayla, your father and I need the money from our new jobs here in the U.K," says my mother gazing at me," I promise that we'll go back to the U.S once we get the chance". I give a fake smile, pick up my suit cases, and walk away into my new room struggling with the heaviness my suit cases along the way to my room. Once I enter the room, I see colorful patterns on the walls and cheerful designs, but there was just something about this room that didn't make me feel safe. The more I walked to the center of the room, the colder my body started to feel. I try to ignore the feeling and relax, so I lay on my bed and turn on my TV. Suddenly, my TV turned off. I heard loud steps getting closer and closer to me. My body shook in fear as I looked around the mysterious room. For a second I thought I was safe until I feel a cold breath on the back of my neck. I try to move, but my body isn't responding, I couldn't even breathe. I was about to take a step off my bed but suddenly- CRASH!
My lamp fell off the counter next to my bed. I rapidly lunge off my bed nearly in tears and run out the door. "Mom! Mom!" I yell running through the halls of my house into my kitchen. "What happened?" asks my mother. I tried to explain what was going on but I didn't know how to do that without sounding crazy. Just then my brother, Mikey, barges into the kitchen," What's going on?". I still couldn't figure out how to explain, but I wasn't just going to stay quiet. "G-ghost!" I stutter. "Um Mikayla, you need some rest," says my mother. "There was a ghost in my room!" I reply. "You're just crazy!" says my brother. "Mikey!" says my now confused yet angry mother. My brother of course does not want to be grounded, so he walks away back into his room. "Okay, Mikayla, tell me exactly what happened," asks my mother. I tell my mother all that I felt, saw, and heard. "Mikayla, you are just hallucinating," says my mother in a worried tone.
"No, I swear I'm not hallucinating!" I say angrily," come see!". I grab my mother's hand and lead her to my room. "Now, when I open this door there will be glass all over the ground because the ghost dropped my lamp, and you'll hear the ghost's footsteps!" I say. My mother afterwards takes a deep breath and nods. I'm filled with excitement to prove that I am not crazy. I open the door quickly then step out of the way so my mother is able to see the wreckage the ghost did. I swiftly walk in after her. "See!" I say not daring to look anywhere near my bed. "What should I be looking at?" asks my mother in confusion. I turn my head to the ground next to my bed, I could feel my heart drop with fear.
The floor is spotless, the lamp on my counter with not one crack, and the room is completely silent. "B-but mom, it was right here!" I say. "There is nothing here! Trust me, Mikayla, you need to rest and you shouldn't be telling lies to your own mother," says my mother slowly walking out the door. I slam the door behind her and lunge onto my bed in tears. "I am not lying," I whisper into my pillow," I'm not...". I then fall asleep after I've calmed myself down. I wake up early the next morning to find a gloomy yet warm day and think about all the occurrences that happened yesterday. I realize that yesterday was a long day and I didn't get enough sleep, maybe I was hallucinating. I rub my eyes and get up from my bed. All seems normal but I have a weird sensation that something is wrong. I walk across my room to the door but again, the center of the room feels cold! I turn and lift my coat from the coat hanger near my bed. I walk forward to the door with my coat still in my hand. I was about to touch the door knob but I blink just once and I am amazed yet frightened. I let my coat plummet to the ground as I let out a low gasp.
There it was, blocking me from being able to leave my room. It was a girl, possibly the ghost that scared me yesterday. She seemed alive but then again, how did she get into my room without me hearing or noticing. Her eyes were as grey and shiny as silver, her hair as golden as the sun, but her skin, well that was a whole different thing. Her skin was pale as snow, that feature was amazing! She looked beautiful but she looked like me in a serious and prettier way. "Who are you?" I ask. "I'm Sarah," she says with a smile. "What are you doing here?" I ask her. "Destroy the doll," says Sarah with her smile fading away. "I'm sorry what?" I ask. "Destroy the doll!" repeats Sarah. "What doll?" I ask trying to act calm. "Haven't you noticed," she says, tears threatening to fall out the rim of her eyes," haven't you noticed that a ghost isn't powerful enough to drop a lamp and make that much noise? Only a solid figure is able to do that!".
"Wait, how'd you know about that?" I ask. "I was watching while the doll tried to hurt you," Sarah says. "What doll?" I ask again. "Danielle," says Sarah giving out a little sigh," she was my doll that my mother had bought for me when I was 11. I loved that doll with all my heart, but the only problem was that if someone loves a doll too much, the doll with come to life until it becomes destroyed by someone's bravery. None of her victims were brave, except for a young boy which was the last owner of the doll. I didn't know that it would come to life, but it did and she made me disobey my parents, talk back to my teachers, even gossip rumors about my friends and tell their secrets to everyone. Danielle ruined my life, my parents ignored me, my teachers would suspend me, and my friends were then afraid of me and also moved because of how rude I was, but Danielle told me it was vital to do these tasks. One day she told me to kill my mother and I refused to do the task. I knew I had to obey her, but I wasn't going to kill my mother and live on knowing I'm a murderer. Danielle was very angered so she took my soul and kept it for 89 years in a sphere object where she keeps her power... Souls are her power. I managed to escape 3 years ago while the past owners of this house accidentally opened the sphere while they were breaking the tile of this floor to replace it and believe it or not, all the souls were kept in the center of this room hidden under the floor, and yes, that's why you get a lifeless feeling when walking into the center of this dreadful room. Anyway, all the souls escaped, Danielle was outraged. She had lost all her power and souls except for her own soul which is still a lot of power, enough power to break and fix things like your lamp," Sarah turned to the door and looked back at me," quickly, your mother is coming. The only thing that destroys her is to know that you're not afraid! Good luck and goodbye for this is last time I will be able to be seen!". I didn't even get to open my mouth to speak when my mother enters the room holding the most horrible object I have ever seen. "Who are you talking to?", asks my mother. "I was talking to..." I look to where Sarah was standing but she was gone, "Uh... Myself". My mom looks at me as if she thinks I'm the craziest human being alive. "Anyway, I found this doll while cleaning out the attic!" says my mother cheerily. "Danielle," I whisper under my breath. "I'll leave you and your doll to play!" says my mother as she hands me the doll and walks out my bedroom door. I stare into the eyes of the doll for a moment. I gaze at the doll identifying it and all of a sudden, the doll blinks. I drop it swiftly giving a squeal. "I'm Danielle," says the doll sitting up. "Get away!" I say. "Until you join my little friends in the afterlife!", says Danielle. "Never!" I run out of the room and hide in the attic. "Your mother found me here! Hahaha you can't destroy me in the place I was found!" chuckles Danielle.
I stay quiet as I hide behind a box. "She won't find me," I think to myself. "Oh yes I will!" says Danielle then I know she could read my mind. She peers around the corner of the box. There she was, holding a small sphere in which 'Souls of Eternity' was engraved. I scooted closer and closer to the wall. "No! No!" I kept repeating. She came near me and opened the box. "This is the end,"I whisper. I closed my eyes tightly together prepared for my death. No, I must face her bravely. I open my eyes and sit up. I can't and won't be afraid of a puny doll like this. Danielle looks at me angrily. I smirk as she opens the box to my face and nothing occurs. "Why aren't you afraid?" asks Danielle. "Because you want me to be afraid, I refuse to be afraid," I say. "No!" yells Danielle. I triumphantly smile as she bursts into flames. I wake up sweating in my bed. It was all just a dream! I look around my room here in the U.S! My mother then walks into my room. "Great news, Mikayla," says my mother with a grin," I got a new job in the U.K. so we are moving there!".”Oh no," I say.
